Capturing our joint workshops with video
We tried to capture the energy, experience, and "vibe" of our joint workshops with a professional video - as always, there is a little bit more work behind the scenes than the 28 seconds people see... Which I thought I (Hidai) will share here.
Orli and I are quite proud to regularly hear from participants & programme managers that the workshops we deliver together are unique in their style, levels of interest & engagement and, dare we say, even fun.
And while we have their written feedback & reviews, which are of course very valuable, there was still a feeling that "you had to be there" to really get it, or in other words bring it to life for those who weren't there.
So as part of our strategy to invest in video content this year, we decided to professionally shoot one of our workshops.
So, first we had to find the right location, and we naturally went for one of our favourite places - UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. It was our 4th time there talking about Effective LinkedIn, so we knew it well (and actually a few years ago we used it for our first professional photography shoot, you can see Orli's post about it on LinkedIn) and they kindly agreed. We chose our 2nd session, which allowed us to use the 1st session for final planning & preparations.
Then we had to find the right video producer - we collaborated with the very creative Hamza Firdous from Wasper Media before and were looking for the right opportunity to work together, he was interested and straight away had some great ideas which challenged us (in a good way!), and together with the lovely Valeria Patarushina they recorded the entire 1.5 hours workshop and also some parts afterwards, to have as much material as possible.
And lastly it's the editing (which Orli avoids completely and I actually like, it's great finding those "money shots"!) - we had some ideas for different types & styles of videos, but as much as I like planning in advance and know exactly what we want, sometimes it's not that clear and it's also about reviewing the material and see, so we worked together in collaboration, tried a few directions, and eventually we have 2 videos:
1 - Reel for Instagram, Facebook & TikTok, Hamza is brilliant with these, so he came up with the idea of a fun video of us talking outside after the workshop
2 - a more "serious" one with a YouTube format which will not be topic-specific, with music only and selected angles & shots - the result is below and also on my post on LinkedIn:
And also equally important, as often with video materials, we have a "best bits" internal video, which will be used to create our first speaker showreels, for Orli (who will also have her first TEDx talk soon!) and myself (with podcasts and more) - coming soon!
